ANNIE MATHIS

Annie Mae Mathis aka “Blondie”, 66, died on Saturday, September 28,2019, with family by her side.  She was born on February 25, 1953, in Blytheville, Ark, to Estoria Christain and the late L.C. Dedrick but raised by the late Jessie Christan from a baby. Annie attended Richard B. Harrison High school in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was proceeded in death by her father L.C. Dedrick and stepfather Jessie Christain; Sisters: Shirley Dedrick, Esther Walters, Julliette Thomas, Faye Anderson; Grandson: Jonathan Fitzgerald Bell II; Special cousin: Dana Thompson; Brother-in-Law: Douglas Collins. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Blytheville, Arkansas under Rev. T.J. Green. She was a member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church and Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist where she served as an usher and choir member. She was a current member of Berean Family Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor James Reed. She was united in marriage with Benjamin Robert Mathis Sr. who proceeded her in death. She loved her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and known for her “Big” homemade cake.  Annie was currently employed at Research Medical Center-HCA for 31 years before her sudden passing. Survivors left to cherish her memories, her mother Estoria Christain-MO; two daughters Lawanda Smith(Frank)-MO, Chlondon Dedrick-MO; one son Benjamin R. Mathis Jr.(Dawn)-TN; eight grandchildren Kendra S. Mathis-MO, Jonathan F. Bell III-MO-, Derrion D. Cooper-MO, Takyla C. Mathis-TN, Tiara L. Mathis-TN, Aleyah Chivers-TX, Keenan A. Smith-MO, Akira Smith-MO; nine great-grandchildren; Sister Garnell Collins-MO; Brother Paul Christian(Annie)-WA; Host of  other nieces, nephews, and friends.   Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO.  Visitation 9:00 a.m. Private disposition.
