Charlotte Elizabeth (Wilson) Nevels was born in Sumter, South Carolina to the loving parents of George W. Wilson and Maggie Lou (Frierson) Wilson on December 16, 1947. She was the third of four children. Charlotte graduated from Lincoln High School in Sumter, South Carolina in 1965. She received her Associates of Arts in Business from Wentworth College in 1981. Shortly after their marriage, Len and Charlotte moved to Tokyo, Japan with their beautiful daughter Cynthia in August 1973. While in Japan, Charlotte worked for the Department of Defense.  While at the Department of Defense, Charlotte met a couple of nice Japanese ladies who taught her how to Crochet.  As a result, she created several wonderful pieces of art, including a little Japanese girl dressed in a Kimono with Geta and an umbrella.

She also worked closely with Girl Scouts, accompanying them on varies outings and other activities. After returning to the United States in 1976, Charlotte worked for the Federal Government at the General Services Administration (GSA), starting as a Switchboard Operator (GS-4).  When she retired in 2009, she held the position of Regional Director of the Midwest (GS-15), in which she was responsible for four states. While pursuing her career goals, Charlotte and her husband Len, always made time for the things they liked doing together.  This included traveling to their favorite designations which included, Las Vegas, NV and Murrells Inlet near Myrtle Beach, SC.  They also enjoyed attending live concerts from a plethora of artist, from Aretha Franklin, the Temptations, BB King and Sin Bad. For relaxation, they loved growing and planting flowers in their garden. At an early age, Charlotte attended Reeseville, AME Church, in Alcolu, South Carolina.  This helped to solidify her faith in God for her entire life. Charlotte was a fantabulous cook (AND BOY COULD SHE COOK)!!!!  She loved making her family’s favorite dishes.  Southwest Omelet, Pork Chops, Rice, Gravy and Sweet Peas, and Homemade Burgers off the grill to name a few.
