LESTER C. MILLER SR.
Lester Columbus Miller, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. Lester was born October 17, 1928 in Southeast Missouri to the late Shead and Annie Miller.
After completing grade school in southeast Missouri, the family moved to Jefferson City, Missouri where he furthered his education and was later employed at the State Capitol.
He met and married his wife of 71 ½ years, Viola Mae Pearl, in Jefferson City and shortly after their marriage he was inducted into the United States Army. He served his country and was honorably discharged in 1953. He joined his wife, Viola, in Kansas City, Missouri, where they made their home. Lester accepted Jesus Christ into his life as his Lord and Savior at an early age and he and family became members of the Benton boulevard Christian Church on 26th and Benton. The church later moved to the present location of Central Christian Church, 3801 Est Linwood. Lester was ordained an elder and faithfully served until his health failed. He was a gospel singer for many years and formed a gospel singing group, the Spiritual Stars, which had many singing engagements in and out of the Kansas City area. Lester was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Viola; his son, Lester, Jr. and wife, Nita; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Central Christian Church 3801 Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64128. Visitation 10:00a.m. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
