VELMA LEE SHOCKLEY
Velma Lee Shockley was born on September 15, 1941 to the union of Shed and Timothy Robinson in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Velma received her formal education at Holly Grove Vocational High School in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Velma accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with St. Lukes M.B.C. in Holly Grove Arkansas. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ under the pastoral care of Bishop James D. Tindall Sr. Presiding Prelate.
She was employed at Gates & Son BBQ in Kansas City, MO as a manager for many years. In her leisure she enjoyed going to casinos, cracking jokes, eating, spending time with family, traveling and going to her hometown every 4th of July. Velma Lee Shockley departed this life on November 5, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Shed and Timothy Robinson, her son; Charles Robinson, brothers; Leroy and Henry Taylor, Sister; Florentine Wallace and Eddie Ruth Robinson. Nieces; Andrea Baldwin and Rita Baldwin, and Nephews; Randy Robinson and Elisha Baldwin. She leaves to cherish her memory: Two sisters; Earnestine Lewis (Milwaukee, WI) and Coy Ashley (Fort Worth Texas). Four brothers; Shed Robinson Jr. (California) O.V. Robinson (Texas) Roosevelt Tibbs (Missouri) and J.W. Robinson (Texas) and a host of nieces, nephews’ cousins and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64130. Visitation 10:00 a.m. Interment in Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri.
