Alvin Nash, Jr. departed this life to be with the Lord on January 14th, 2021. He was the Eldest son of Lillie Mae and James Washington of Kansas City, MO. He was born on December 5th, 1942 in New Orleans, LA, also the ancestral home of the Family. Alvin was baptized at Skylight Baptist Church, KCMO at a very young age. He proudly served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Alvin was a Trustee and a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E Church in Kansas City. He attended Central High School also attended school at Park College, receiving a Degree in Public Administration. He worked for many years as a Special Assistant and Campaign Manager for 2 Mayors of Kansas City, Mayor Richard Berkley and Mayor Kaye Barnes. In the 80’s Al worked as the Assistant to Louisiana Gov. Dave Treen. He worked on many National Elections around the country and was also the Producer and Host of “Feedback Live” a weekly Community-based Radio show aired on KPRT-AM for over 20 years. He enjoyed providing information and topics of interest to the community. He had many business interests in the city and in the River Quay area. He was Vice President and Board member of The Black Archives of Mid-America, served on the Advisory Board of the K.C. Friends of Alvin Ailey, Urban League of Greater K.C., Board Member of the Minority Media Association, and as a consultant, advised many other organizations in the Metro area.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Lillie Washington and brothers Byron and Wendell Washington. He will be missed and is survived by his devoted Life Partner, Jeanette Paige of Kansas City, Mo; his 2 sons from a previous marriage, Vincent and Alan Nash of Ft. Worth, TX; his 3 Sisters, Jackie Nash of Alexandria, LA, Gerri Akers of Kansas City, MO and La’Verne Washington of Washington, DC.; 4 Brothers: Hershal Washington of Atlanta, GA, James Washington of Kansas City, MO, Kenneth Washington of Spring Hill, FL. Gilbert Washington of New Orleans, LA., his loving Nieces & Nephews and a host of loving relatives!.
Graveside services were held on January 21, 2021, in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Life Celebration for Alvin Nash, Jr., will be planned at a future date.
