BRUCE WATKINS, III Obituary

Mr. Bruce Riley Watkins, III, 65 of Kansas City, Missouri departed this life July 23, 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bruce was born December 15, 1954 to Bruce R. Watkins, Sr., and Lola Plummer Watkins.

He attended the Kansas City Public Schools and graduated from Southeast High School. (He attended  Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas with a BA in Human Resources Management.  (Bruce loved football and played Offensive Guard at Southeast H.S., Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and University of Nevada Las Vegas)

After returning to Kansas City he graduated from Kansas City, Kansas Community College in Mortuary Science.  Bruce and his brother Robert formed Brit Lite, a lighting maintenance company in 1979.

Bruce worked in his family business Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel until he opened his own business Church Funeral Services.

He was active in Freedom Inc. most of his adult life and supported his father’s political campaign, especially the Mayoral race in 1979.

Bruce will be missed and to cherish his memory his son Bruce R. Watkins, Jr., two cousins Marion O. Watkins and Theron Thomas Johnson, step mother Rhae Watkins, niece, nephew, cousins, and many friends.
