With deepest sorrow we announce that Benjamin Ellis (Bennie), age 60 our most beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend passed suddenly Tuesday February 25, 2020 while at home. Bennie was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended East High School and The University of Kansas for college. While at KU he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. An achievement he was proud of until his passing. He formed lifelong bonds with the other brothers of Omega Psi Phi. He attended Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church for many years. Later he became a Computer Aided Design Developer at Scanning America of Lawrence Kansas. Getting in on the ground floor of the booming Tech Industry. He eventually moved on to the Federal Government where he was a Notice Review Tax Examiner for the IRS nearly 20 years. He was a valued and often awarded employee while there. Bennie was also a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was devoted to his troop and the young scouts within it. In 2006 he was awarded Scoutmaster of the Year by the Pioneer Trails District of Scouting. Bennie loved Architecture, Technology, Film, and especially Music. Bennie also enjoyed cheering on his local sports teams: The KU Jayhawks Basketball Team, the Kansas City Royals, and of course the current World Champions the Kansas City Chiefs. Bennie will be missed daily by his mother, Mosie Ashley; his brother, James (Monique) Jefferson; his niece Khemri Jefferson; his great niece Nolee Jefferson; his uncle Rev. Price (Stella) Ellis; cousins, as well as a host of family and great friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church 2853 Cleveland Avenue, KCMO. Family Hour 10:00am until time of service. Private Disposition.
