Doris Moore Obituary

Doris J. Moore, age 99, died peacefully in her sleep on April 22, 2020, at her home in Brookside. Doris was born October 20, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska with parents Bernice and Wayman Wilburn. She married Charles A. Moore, Jr in 1941. After World War II, the family moved to Missouri, first settling in Excelsior Springs and then to Kansas City. Three children were born to the union; Charles III, Vicki and Sylvia.

In Kansas City, Doris united with St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church. She was an active and proud member of the former clubs “the Satellite club” and Mo-Kan’s. Doris was also a member of the ABA’s Greater Kansas Bridge unit and the BIDS Club. She was an IRS retiree.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her youngest daughter Sylvia E. Moore. Her memory will be cherished by her son Charles A. Moore III, her daughter Vicki A. Collins, daughter-in-law Jacquelyn C. Moore, 3 grandchildren, along with Yolanda King and family, and 4 great great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
