Emma Jean Wright was born September 15, 1942, to the union of David Powell and Mable Randle, who preceded her in death. For the majority of her childhood years she was raised by her Grandmother, Bulah Randle. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Garrett Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in the ’70s where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her passing. She graduated from Carver High School in Moro, Arkansas. The same year she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and shortly met and married Ollie B. Scott. To that union, two children were born, Greg K. Scott and April D. Scott and later Ollie adopted Emma’s eldest son, Ray Thomas. Emma J. met Joe W. Wright, in the ’70s and they married August 6, 1980, in that marriage, she accepted four of his children, Jodie, Joe Jr, Lee, and Timothy along with Ray, Greg and April. They provided a loving and happy household for the blended family. Emma J. Wright began working at Guys/ Borden Potato Chips where she worked many years before retiring in the late ‘90s. Emma J. enjoyed life and spending time with her children and grandchildren. As a grandmother, she made it a priority to be involved in their education, extracurricular activities, and spiritual growth. She took a special interest going to Swap n Shop, selling her Avon, going to the casino and she truly enjoyed going to the hair salon to get her hair done by her daughter April. Emma J. Wright departed this life on Friday, April 3rd, 2020 at 9:27 a.m. She was well loved and will truly be missed by her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Bulah Randel, cousins Sterling and Zeke Randle, who were like brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories: her life companion Joe W. Wright, her brother James White, two sisters Jessie White and Mary Anne Saffold, four cousins raised as siblings, Cunnie Randle, Onnie Williams, Geneva Mattews (Otis) and Elizabeth Matthews, two sons Ray Thomas and Greg Scott (Courtney) daughter April (Emmett Edwards IV), special niece Theresa White, six grandchildren Kevin Kidd Jr, DeMarcus Edwards, Leyla Edwards, Angel Scott, Greg Scott Jr and Anyia Scott. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends plus her very best friend Gwen Brown and her fury kid Jake.
