Georgia E. Key Hayes, 77, was born October 28, 1942 in Stephens Missouri to Larkin Mack Key and Mary Alice (Marshall) Key. She was the ninth child of eleven children. Georgia was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers (Edward, Tommy and Jerry Key), two sisters (Cora Wilson, Glorious Andrews), and her two beautiful daughters (Rhonda Edwards & Eleita Walker). “A Time for Every Purpose Under Heaven…”
Georgia was educated in both the Kansas City and Columbia School Districts. In 1958 she was joined in holy matrimony to Roland Adolphus Hayes for 22 years. Five children (Eleita, Rolan, Eddie, Rhonda and Roderick Hayes) were born to this union. The marriage later dissolved, and they remained close friends. In 1968 she moved to Kansas City. Georgia was employed by King Louie International for over 35 years as a seamstress, she was a dedicated employee and received countless awards & recognition for her extraordinary work ethic, she retired from the company in October of 2013. Georgia accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Philadelphia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James E Everage and later joined Canaan Worship Center led by Bishop Tony D. Cobbins of Kansas City until she could no longer attend. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who also touched the hearts and left an everlasting impression on everyone she met. “A Time to Die…” Georgia departed this earthly life March 4, 2020 at Seasons Memory Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri, with her three sons by her side. We will miss her beautiful smile, distinctive laughter, sense of style and (of course) her cooking. “A Time to Be Remembered…” She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sons, Rolan Hayes of Grandview, MO, Eddie Hayes and Roderick Hayes of Kansas City, MO; three sisters, Carrie Pruitt and Mary (Walter) Strickland of Kansas City, MO, and Willa (Robert) Arnold of Scottsdale, AZ. One Brother John Key of Columbia, MO. A Special bonus daughter Ronisha Rogers of Kansas City, MO. One daughter “In Love” Tracey Hayes of Grandview, MO. Two sons-in-law, Marvin Walker of Grandview, MO, and Frank Edwards of Kansas City, MO. Twelve grandchildren, several bonus grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO, 64130. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Internment in Brooking Cemetery.
