John Lee Scott was born to the union of Nehemiah and Toledo (Henderson) Scott on May 12, 1942 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. John departed this life on October 18, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family, to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Johnie Mae Patterson, a son, Bryant, and his wife Patricia.
John received his education at Edmond Elementary School. Initially, John school settled in Chicago, but eventually moved to Kansas City. It was there that he met his wife of 42 years, Patricia.
For over 40 years John was a dedicated, hard working employee at CertainTeed Fiberglass. He retired in 2008.
John professed is love for Christ and was baptized at an early age at Wheeler Baptist Church.
John was a highly revered and respected by members of his neighborhood, his friends, and his coworkers. He loved to garden, take road trips with his family, and listen to “Down Home” Blues.
John “Tokey” Scott leaves to cherish his memory his two sisters, Ruthie (Scott) Anderson and Ernestine (Walker) Gordon; his sons Kevin, Kerry, and Scottie; his daughters Pam, Carolyn (James), Cheryl, Jackie, and Lisa (Robert); Aunt Myrna and Uncle Ollie and the rest of his Grand Rapids, MI family; Grand children Damond (Tirneshia), Janell, James, Briona, Nya, Robert Jr, Jacarra, three great grand children; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a Special friend Jeannette Irvin.
Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020, 11 am at Watkins Heritage chapel, visitation 10 am Interment in Brooking.
