MR. SYLVESTER LEON NORRIS, JR.

Sylvester Leon Norris Jr., son of the late Sylvester Leon Norris Sr. and Albertine Yvonne Norris was born on May 14th, 1963, in Kansas City, MO. He attended Wendell Phillips Elementary, Lincoln Junior High School, and Lincoln Senior High School.  Sylvester was a graduate of the class of 1981.

Sylvester accomplished everything he desired in his lifetime. In his early years, while attending school he was a member of the Lincoln Cobras, the football and basketball team, and played the drums in the band. Sylvester had a special love for music and skating and received several trophies for his talents.

Sylvester was united in marriage to Rhonda Norris on January 29th, 2010. Their favorite past times was going to the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoying fun in the sun on the wave runners, skating and listening to old school music.

Sylvester departed this life on Saturday May 13th, 2023, at Research Medical Center. He was proceeded in death by his parents, three uncles and one aunt.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Rhonda Jean Norris of the home, his Mother- In Law Barbra Overton, his sister Elouise Stewart of Kansas City, Mo, three sons Sylvester L. Norris III, Elmer Norris, and Christopher Ferguson of Kansas City, Mo., Two stepsons: Darryl Williams (Whitney) and DeAndre Williams (Danielle) of Kansas City, Mo. One niece who he loved dearly Manetta Norris, one nephew James Norris, three granddaughters: D’Aysa Collier- Williams, Shyanne Ferguson, and E’mya Walker. Two grandsons: Jaden King Norris and Josiah Leon Norris. Five aunts: Ella Cowherd (Robert) and Virginia Templeton of Des Moines, Iowa; Marion Watkins, Diane Walker, and Mary Wright of Kansas City, MO.  five sister-in laws, and four brother-in laws, a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, 11am at Watkins Heritage Chapel visitation 10 am. Interment in Brooking Cemetery. Services conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
