Amazair "Mack" McAllister was born June 13, 1935 in Morrilton, Arkansas, sixth of eight children born to Lexington McAllister and Theola Thompson McAllister. Both parents precede him in death.
Amazair “Mack” McAllister of Kansas City, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Ignite Rehab Facility.
He attended Spring Valley Elementary and Menifee High school both in Arkansas. Mack later attended one year of community college at Lincoln Junior College in Kansas City, Missouri.
Amazair moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1952. Amazair was also employed by Hertz Car Rental retiring after 40 years. He became a successful entrepreneur, establishing one of the oldest black owned businesses in Kansas City; Standard Exterminating Company which continues to operate today.
In 1957 he married Sammie L. Bishop in Kansas City, Missouri. To this union two children were born, Amazair McAllister Jr., M.D. and Byron K. McAllister. He and Sammie remained close friends until Sammie’s death in 2004. Mack also has two sons from a previous relationship, Jermaine and Rodney.
Amazair was an active member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend William F. Snorgrass. Anyone who knew "Mack" felt his compassion and sincerity. He enjoyed spending time with his children, family and many friends. During Mack’s early years he loved to travel, go boating, and celebrating his birthday with his cousin Vivienne Starks Smith. He was a true Democrat watching MSNBC daily and routinely criticizing Fox News.
He was preceded in death by brothers; Theodis McAllister, Theopras McAllister, sister Juanita McFadden, Arletha Manley, Lexine Holley and many nieces and nephews.
Amazair leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Amazair, McAllister Jr., M.D., (Donna), Byron K. McAllister, (Rhonda), Jermaine McAllister (Aisha) all of Kansas City, Missouri; Rodney Chriswell of Conway, Arkansas, his grandchildren Jermaine, Jaliyah, Jayden, Tamyia, Tywan, Kristen and Loren, two brothers, William McAllister of Kansas City, Missouri, James McAllister (Zella Mae) of Morrilton, Arkansas, longtime companion Eleanor Hambrick, Kansas City and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, 2:00pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Morrilton, AR. Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm at the chapel.
