Bennie Raye Rucker, was born April 9, 1978 at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The second child from the Union of John Wesley Rucker and Chriss Valerie (Carroll) Rucker.
Bennie received his primary education in the Kansas City Public School District where he graduated from Metropolitan Advanced Technical High School in 1996. Following high school he attended Doane College in Crete Nebraska majoring in Electrical Engineering on an Academic and Basketball Scholarship.
At a young age Bennie worked at Michael's Hair Salon and Blue Parkway Bate Shop. After college he worked at Kaw Valley Engineering for several years as a Civil Surveyor. Following that he explored other opportunities and he finally found a career with Missouri Department of Transportation as a Maintenance Worker where he worked until the time of death.
Bennie enjoyed playing basketball, video games, holidays with family, watching and attending sporting events especially when he was watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Spending time with family and friends was just as important as breathing to him. He loved the gift God gave him everyday allowing him to open his eyes to see his loved ones. He especially loved supporting his nieces and others during there special moments in life. He truly was a selfless individual that was loved by his family and friends.
Bennie was preceded in death by his, Mother Chriss V. Rucker, Brother John Sanchez Douglas, paternal grandparents TJ and Bertha Rucker, maternal grandfather Bennie Burks, four Uncles Larry Rucker, Donald Rucker, Walter Ingram and Clem Burks, two Aunts Ruby Sue Rucker and Annette Rucker. Those who remain to cherish his memory his father, John W Rucker (Candace), his paternal grandmother Mary Burks, his sister Bertha Ross (Aaron), four Aunts Reahlene Ingram, Arthur Gammon (Eddie), Yolanda Brown (Kenny), April Burks, three Uncles Thomas Rucker (Bobby), Mark Burks (Donna), and Bennie Burks Jr., two close friends Quentin and Chris (Fuzz) Carter and a Host of Family and Friends who he loved and always supported.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, 3:00 pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm-3pm at the chapel. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and face coverings are required indoors.
