Mr. Charles Scott Obituary

Charles Leon Scott, III was born on October 11,1935 in Jackson, Mississippi to parents Charles L Scott Jr and Estelle Inez Scott. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1943 where they settled on the westside of town. He graduated from R. T. Coles High School in 1954.

Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his initial tour finished, he returned to Kansas City, Missouri. He then enlisted in the United States Army. He married Carolyn G. King on January 1, 1967. There were two children born of the marriage, Rhonda Scott Bridgeforth and Charles Leon Scott, IV.

Charles and his family relocated to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and he retired from the US Army in May, 1976. Following his retirement, he soon returned to Kansas City, Missouri and became the manager of UMKC School Dental Laboratory where he worked from July 1976 until he retired in July 1999. He enjoyed traveling and bowling until his health prevented these activities.

Charles passed away on September 19, 2021 at Saint Joseph Hospital after a short illness He was 85. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Estelle, his sister Ester, and his wife Carolyn. Charles is survived by his daughter Rhonda Scott Bridgeforth, his son Charles Leon Scott, IV, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, 11:00am at the Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the chapel.  Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due COVID -19 protocols, social distancing and face coverings are indoors.
