Mr. Eddie Brewer Obituary

Deacon Eddie Earl Brewer, 86, was born on June 6, 1936, to James and Catherine Hood-Brewer of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by both Parents, James and Catherine Hood-Brewer; Maternal Grandparents; Monroe, and Laura Hood, Paternal Grandparents; Oscar and Minnie Brewer; two son’s Reginal Brewer and Cordney Miller, and one daughter, Tanjala Brewer.

He joined the United States Air Force after high school and served for 4 years, he worked at Luciana Photography for 30 years as a professional photographer traveling around the world taking photos. In 1972, he began working for the Kansas City Metro Area Transportation Authority as a bus driver, drove the bus for over 30 years before retiring in 2008, and received numerous awards and certificates for being an excellent bus driver.

He was an active member of the Emmanuel Church under the leadership of the late Bishop W. H. White, Sr., and currently under the leadership of Pastor R.L. White, Sr., for over 20 years. He served on the Deacon Board for 10 years, served as the President of the Male Chorus choir for 5 years, taught the Men of Faith Sunday School class for 5 years, and he was the Church Photographer for 15 years.

Ed was a quiet person, he always kept a smile on his face, he was truly a God-fearing man, he was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was loved by his family, his church family, and his friends. Ed loved to travel and enjoyed fishing with his late mother-in-law, Ethel Winston. Deacon Eddie Brewer will be truly missed.

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, Deacon Brewer went home to be with the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Helen J. Brewer, three daughters, Carla (Roderick) Perkins of Lee Summit, Missouri; Lisa (Andre) Medina of Overland Park, Kansas; and Yvonne Bailey of Grandview, Missouri; two sons, Kenneth Brewer, and Joseph Brewer of Kansas City, Missouri, one brother, James (Lubertha) Brewer, two sisters, Florine Harris, and Dorothy McDaniel, all of Houston, Texas, 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, 11am at Emanuel Baptist Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shred on our website.
