Mr. George Webb Obituary

George Alfred Webb, Sr. was born to the union of Mary Alice (Bentley) and Lafayette Webb, Sr. on July 31, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was the fourth of six children.

George grew up on 33rd & Bales and attended Kansas City Public Schools. He graduated from Central High School, Class of 1969. He was a proud Blue Eagle!

A proud Army Veteran, George enlisted in the United States Army on August 17, 1970.  He achieved the rank of Specialist 4.  He operated as a driver in Korea during the Vietnam War. George received an Honorable Discharge from the Army on February 19, 1972.

George A. Webb achieved extensive skills trade training to include certified Brick Layer, certified Plumber, and Overhead Crane Operator.

George was a committed laborer as demonstrated through 31.2 years of dedicated service at General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant.  He last worked as a Stamping Plant Inspector. George was also an active member of UAW Local #31.  He retired from General Motors Corporation on October 1, 2003.

Ever the entrepreneur, George was also a successful general contractor and small business owner of G A Construction since 1972.  In addition, he provided lawn care, home maintenance, and repair for countless neighbors, family members and elders around the city.

He was a classic outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and cooking over an open fire.

Celebrated as a master cook and caterer, George’s bar-b-que, smoked meats, holiday meals, soul food, fish fries, baking and scratch cooking were legendary.

George was highly active.  He exercised regularly, enjoyed walking, and loved to swim!

He was a dedicated Christian.  As a youth, George attended Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Jesus Christ.  Later, he joined Universal Spiritual Church of Jesus Christ and became a trustee (1976-1995).  George joined Palestine Baptist Church and was active in the Men’s Chorus and Sunday School.  He also volunteered for numerous projects and events of the church.

George A. Webb, Sr. transitioned from this life on earth to his forever home on November 18, 2022, leaving to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Willa J. Webb. His children, George A Webb, Jr., and TuJuania L. Scott (Dred). Grandchildren, Antione T. Webb, Sr., Quincy A. Scott, and Kayla R. Scott. Great Grandchildren, Aliyah M. Webb and Antione T. Webb, Jr. Sister, Alice M. McCullough (George), and Sisters-in-law, Celestine D. Perkins, Edrina D. Wade (Tommy), Alberta Hudson, Dorothy Webb, and Rose Webb.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, 11am at Palestine Miss. Bapt. Church. Visitation 9am. Interment in Leavenworth National Cemetery.  Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd Kansas City, Missouri 64130 816-861-3030
