Mr. Kenneth Stewart Obituary

Kenneth A. Stewart, Sr., died on November 29, 2021, peacefully in his family home of 68 years surrounded by his loved ones.

Kenneth was born in Portland, Jamaica on April 1, 1921. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He, like so many immigrants arrived in the U.S. during World War II to help the farming communities because many young men had enlisted in the service. After the war, many of his friends returned to Jamaica.

He remained, met and married the love of his life, Martha J. Byrd in 1946. To this union seven children completed their family.

He was employed at Swift Packing House for 17 years until it closed in 1968.  He would finish his career at Armco Steel, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Power of Faith A.M.E. Church, formerly Flipper Memorial A.M.E. where he served as Steward Emeritus. He also held the honor of Elder Statesmen for the Jamaican West Indian Social Club. We love him so much, we shared him proudly with the world as Papa Stewart, Uncle Mr. Stewart, Uncle Brother, Granddaddy, Great-Granddaddy, Great-Great-Granddaddy, Godfather and Patriarch.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, 11:00am at Ebenezer AME. interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
