Mr. Larry Butler, son of the late Ernest and Lee Q. Williams Butler was born on September 12, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. Larry was the sixth of eleven children. He departed this life Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Larry attended Central High School, graduating in 1960. He was a member of Central’s track and field team when he and his teammates won numerous 1st place trophies and metals.
Larry taught tennis in Central Park and was an avid chess player. He schooled family members in the rules of engagement in chess. Larry departed Kansas City shortly after graduation for the sun drenched land of California. There he honed his skills becoming a master painter and mason. Thus starting his career of flipping older properties.
Larry was flipping houses before flipping houses was cool.
Larry returned to Kansas in the late 60’s continuing his house flipping but on a smaller scale. He traveled quite a bit between K.C.., Georgia, California and Washington, D.C. area helping family and friends with their home renovation projects.
Larry remained a devoted Catholic with Father Carlito administered Larry his last rites before he passed. He had no children. Larry is survived by two sisters, Stephanie, Roberta and Kathryn Chatters and three brothers, Michael, Phillip and David Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was loved and he will be greatly missed
Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022, 1:00pm at XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
