Lorna Jeanette Lewis was born in Kingston, St. Vicent, on February 12th, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents Joffre Richard Mcintosh and Hilda Mildred Durrant, brothers Arnold and Julian McIntosh and sister June Dugan. She made her heavenly transition on August 6th, 2023.
Being a part of the McIntosh family in St. Vicent she was treated like part of the aristocracy, which gave her many privileges such as presenting flowers to Queen Elizabeth with her grandfather, the late George A. McIntosh. She immigrated to Arima, Trinidad and Tobago with her family at the age of 5 years old. In her youth she pursued teaching, and worked with a Canadian ambassador of St. Vicent, which afforded her the ability to meet Princess Margaret of the United Kingdom, along many other influential individuals.
She went on to have 3 beautiful children and gained some adopted chosen sons and daughters along the way.
She immigrated to America in August of 1969. Her children, Kurt, Chris and Heather Fitz-Charles admired her through her struggles of raising three kids as a single mother in Brooklyn, New York. Although she worked various jobs to make ends meet in bustling Brooklyn, she discovered her passion for childcare and nannied simply because she wholeheartedly loved working with children.
Lorna also found joy in cooking food from her West Indian culture, to share loved ones and strangers alike.
In 1990, cupid’s arrow struck, and she met the love of her life, Regis Lewis, whom she married on Valentine’s Day, 1996.
Lorna and Regis loved to travel, visit casinos, cook, dance, sing and most importantly laugh with one another, with the two of them, there was never a dull moment. In fact, on most weekend evenings, Regis could be found strumming his guitar and serenading her, which she loved.
In 2003, Lorna moved to Kansas City, Missouri to support and care for her daughter and grandchildren, while her daughter went through graduate school.
Lorna took inspiration from her mother, Hilda Mildred McIntosh, to love fiercely and endlessly. She was a kind, nurturing, commendable woman, and a devout catholic. A woman of faith who would give her last dime to make the ones she loved happy and will be painfully missed.
She is survived by her husband, her sweetheart, Regis Lewis; Her 3 children Kurt Fitz-Charles, Christopher Fitz-Charles and Heather Fitz-Charles (Brian Hahn); Her beloved sister, Cheryl Charles; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other beloved family members and friends.
