OCIE LOGAN ROBINSON, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born July 4, 1918, in Alma, AR to Frank and Frances Owens Logan. She was preceded in death by parents and most recently, by husband, Eddie Lee Robinson on December 22, 2020.
Ocie’s family moved to Sand Springs, OK and remained there for several years. They moved to Kansas City, MO in 1929 and united with Morning Star Baptist Church where Ocie worked with the youth. She attended public schools and graduated from Lincoln High in 1936.
She and A. J. Norwood were married in 1938 and moved to Lee’s Summit, MO.
She later united with Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. I.H. Henderson, Jr., where she remained until passing (70 plus years).
Ocie had a spiritual gift of maintaining a peaceful, warm and inviting home which she generously shared with family and friends. She had early training in culinary expertise and remained an excellent cook throughout her life. She was a wise woman who was devoted to her family, always willing to help and encourage others. She faithfully set aside time to read bible scriptures and other Christian literature and to thank God for His many blessings.
She later married Eddie L. Robinson and assisted with the management of his hauling business. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October 2020.
She also trained in practical nursing and cared for her invalid mother for many years as well as her mother-in law. Her early adult years were spent raising her daughter and working in the household of Milton Thompson and Maurice Rehn families in Lee’s Summit, MO where there were only seven African-American families. She remained with Mrs. Rehn after the other family members passed away, 60 plus years.
It must be said that she was a huge sports fan, always cheering on both the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
Ocie was an active member of the Hannah Mission Circle at Friendship Baptist Church where she held several offices for many years. She often cooked and served a full meal in her best china at their meetings and was the last surviving member. We believe there is a special place in Heaven for Ocie and a special crown. She will live on in the hearts of her family: daughters, Frances Jean Henderson, Omaha, NE and Linda James, Kansas City, KS; grandsons: Michael W Brown (Lynda) and Everett W Brown, Omaha, NE; Stephen R. Watson (Nicole), Japan; nine great-grandchildren: eleven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 24th at Friendship Baptist Church 3530 Chelsea Dr. KCMO 64128. Interment Forest Hill and Calvary Cemetery
