Ms. Captoria Brown Murry Obituary

Captoria Ruth Brown-Murry affectionally known as “Babe” was born December 18, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to the parents of Adolph and Isabelle Brown.  Her parents and brother Adolph Brown, Jr. preceded her in death.

Captoria received her education from the Kansas City, MO Public School District.  She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School, R.T. Coles and Graduated from Lincoln, High School.

Captoria truly loved being around her family, especially the children.  The kids enjoyed hanging out with Grandma and Aunt Babe.  She was the family babysitter.  She loved unconditionally and her place was a safe place for everyone.  She would go above and beyond to take care of you.  She gave the best advice and kept it 100.  Babe was FEISTY, always there to talk to you, was totally honest and there for anything you needed.  She was great with numbers and thought she was the best cook ever!!  Babe was a drop dead gorgeous blond and had the fluffiest hair ever.   Noone could ever duplicate it!  That’s a FACT.

Babe worked at several financial institutions.  She held jobs in banking, bookkeeping and payroll, just to name a few, until she retired from Sprint when her health started to decline.

Captoria accepted Christ at a very young age and was baptized at the Beacon Light Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  She later rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized at the Linwood Blvd. SDA Temple.  Captoria was a devout Seventh Day-Adventist.  She loved God with all her heart and was faithful in trusting Him until she went to sleep in Jesus.  Captoria departed this life on January 11, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Captoria leaves to morn a son and two daughters:  Carlton E.  Brown, Sr. (Gwendlyon  Brown), Yolanda G. Murry and Charlotta L. Brown; Siblings, Juanita Harris (Herbert), Mary Russell, Helen Davis (Vashni), Anna Hawthorne, James Brown (Marsh Reeves, special friend), Dwayne Brown (Seretta) and Anthony Eldridge; Grandchildren: Aquila Galvan (Frank), Cathryn Brown, Carlton Brown, Jr. (Tia), Jeremiah Brown and John Murry; Greatgrandchildren: Coneah Brown, Christabella Galvan, Jacob Brown and Baylee Brown;  Long Lifetime Best Friends:  Cozetta Felder and Vivian Young and her precious grand puppy Therbho J.
