Ms. Cynthia Patterson Obituary

Cynthia Ann Patterson was born to Elizabeth Lillabee Goudeau on October 22nd, 1949, in San Francisco California. She was the oldest of 3 sisters. Only living in San Francisco CA for under the 1st year of her life before moving to Kansas City, MO where she called home for the rest of her life & where she was adopted by Viola & Charlie Patterson (her aunt & uncle). Cynthia accepted Christ at a very young age and was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church (now Allen St John AME Church) throughout her childhood and most of her adult life. Cynthia attended public school in Kansas City MO and graduated from Central High School in 1967. After high school she went on to receive higher education from Tarkio College where she received a bachelor's degree. She worked at Commerce Bank for many years until 1986 when she got a job at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in hotel sales management. Working in the hotel industry was more than just a job for her, it was her career. She worked in the hotel industry for many years until early 2020. Between 1986 until 2020 she worked in hotel sales management at Westin Crown Center Hotel, Ameristar Casino & Hotel, Harrah’s Casino & Hotel, Doubletree Hotel & Intercontinental Hotel. She won many sales manager of the year awards. Working in the hotel industry was one of her work passions and she loved her coworkers in which some of them became her lifelong dear friends. From the middle of 2020 until her passing, she worked for Edward Jones as a Branch Office Administrator.

Cynthia didn’t want any handouts and wanted to work for everything she had. She was a very independent & strong woman. She was a giver who loved to shower others with gifts and see others happy. Especially her son Charles Browne & her grandson Charles Browne Jr. On every single holiday (literally) you can expect a gift from Cynthia even if it was just a card. Cynthia was one of the sweetest & kindest people you would ever meet. She was very charismatic, intelligent, and very funny. Her personality and smile could really light up a room. Outside of work she loved reading, going to the movies, traveling, sporting events (especially The Chiefs & Royals) & spending time with family/friends. Cynthia really did love all of her family and friends. She loved her pets also. Mostly recently her dogs Martin & Sabrina who have passed on.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Lillabee Goudeau, her adopted parents Viola & Charlie Patterson, nephew Darrian Harrington, father figure Kenneth A. Stewart

Her son Charles Browne would like to thank all those who called, texted or visited her during her final days physically on this earth (very certain there would have been more but she didn’t want a lot visitors or even taking phone calls during those days) Keona Browne, Charles Browne Jr, Toloria Allen, Andrena Wheeler, Brian Allen, Ben Purnell, Luana Penrice, Rebecca Caldwell, Robin Charles, Kristen Martin, Brenda Goudeau, Brenda Smith, Janet Tircuit, Joni Davis, Naomi Renee Stewart, Edward Stewart, Tiffany Stewart, Michael Lyons & last but not least Naomi Virginia Stewart who was with her until the very end (literally) Not from the same biological DNA but you were more than my mother’s friend. You were her sister.
