Ms. Edith Bolder Obituary

Edith Louatha Bolder was born on August 22, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, and departed this life on July 22, 2022. Edith was the fourth of eight children born to Dorothy Townsend Dickens and John Eliot Dickens.

Edith was a lifelong Catholic, and for the last 20 years has been a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.

Edith graduated from Bishop Ward High School. She was united in marriage to Ledrue Golden Bolder on September 8, 1956,

Edith was passionate about her family, church, and community. She worked for many years as the cafeteria manager at Annunciation Elementary School.

Edith then dedicated her passion to contributing to her community by working with Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries.

After Edith retired, she continued to work in the community by preparing and distributing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families in need. Edith was a force of nature and made friends that became family everywhere she went. She was feisty(bossy), funny, and a resilient woman. Edith was known for her parties. She had a fish fry for the entire neighborhood every Good Friday. But the best party of all was her birthday celebration.

Edith closed the entire Norton block for years and celebrated her birthday like it was a national holiday. The party had food, fun, music, steppers, family, and friends. She used any occasion to be surrounded by family and friends.

Edith was predeceased by her husband, Ledrue Bolder, her son, George Ellis, siblings; Harold Dickens and Leland Dickens. Edith leaves to cherish her loving memory siblings; Barbara Coleman, Jack Dickens (Berniece), Carolyn Bernard (Charles), Mary Hollinshed, Herbert Dickens (Joyce); children; Dorothy Robinson, Dazzie McKelvy (Michael), Victoria Musa Lyons (Anthony), Ledrue Bolder, Jr., Paul Bolder (Gretchen), Edward Bolder; six grandchildren; Michael McKelvy II, Paul Bolder II, Maina Musa, 1LT Evan Bolder, Bridgette Bolder, and Bryce Bolder; sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
