Faye Lee Brown was born March 13, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 74 years old. She was born to Joe Lars and Thelma Friends. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Peter Brown, mother, father, son Terry Friends, 4 sisters Jo Ann White, Brenda Joyce Riley, Pauline Taft, Dorothy Moreland, and 2 brothers Bobby Joe Friends and Billy Joe Lars.
Faye was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District. She attended Lincoln Junior High and Lincoln High School. Faye was a butcher for Safeway until her health began to fail. She also worked as a receptionist for St. Mark’s Church for many years.
She accepted Christ at the tender age of 6 at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She was a descendent of the founders of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church Reverend Scottie and William Higgins. She later fellowshipped with Berean Family Fellowship under Pastor James Reed.
Faye loved to dance and listening to music. She had an extensive album collection. Her favorite pastime was fishing. She enjoyed catching and preparing her signature dish fish and spaghetti for her family and friends.
Faye’s memory will be forever cherished by her 3 brothers Nathaniel Friends, William Friends, and Jimmy Joe Lars, 4 sisters Maxine Turner, Erma Fonteno, Bettye (Richard) Williams, and Gloria Rhodes all of the Kansas City Missouri area; A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021, 11:00am at Church of Jesus Christ LDS. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
