Ms. Geraldine Duvalier Obituary

Geraldine Duvalier, 82 of Kansas City, MO passed away on August 16, 2021 at her daughters Audrey’s and Geraldine’s home.

Geraldine was born February 20, 1939 to Willie N. and Viola (Willie) Kizine at Ft. Riley, KS. She attended school in Junction City, KS and Kansas City, MO. She was next to the youngest of seven children.

Geraldine was united in marriage to F. A. Solomon on January 15, 1956 in Kansas City, MO and five daughters and five sons were born. This union was dissolved in 1976. Geraldine later married Philip Duvalier on April 7, 1978 and remained married until his departure on May 1, 1998.

Geraldine accepted Christ at a very young age and was a member of the Evangelistic Center Church since 1969 when it was located at 1024 Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO, under the leadership of Pastors A.J. and Margaret Rowden and then Pastor John Crane. 

Geraldine was faithful in attending church until she was no longer able to do so. She continued to serve the Lord throughout the years and would love to sing her gospel songs and play her tambourine. She loved her family and enjoyed family time togetherness. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and one of everyone’s favorite was her hummingbird cake. She loved watching cowboy movies and was a second mother to so many.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Philip Duvalier, her eldest son Michael E. Solomon, four brothers, Willie J. Kizine, James Kizine Sr., Jesse Kizine and Earl Kizine, one sister, Betty Lou Brown,  two son-in-laws, Maynard Wright and Daniel Williams, mother- in-law, Ruby Duvalier and brother-in-law Chauncey Duvalier. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her five daughters, Debra Wright, Paula Solomon, Geraldine West (Craig), Audrey Williams and Clara Wilson (Joseph), four sons, John Solomon (Beverly), Leon Solomon, Anthony Solomon (Leah) and De-Angelo Solomon (Salatha), one step daughter, Linda Greer, of Greenville, SC, one brother, Bayless W. Kizine and one brother-in-law, Lee Brown Sr., 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Geraldine touched many lives and will be truly missed by all.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, 11:00am at Graceway Church. Interment will be held on Monday, August 23, 11:00am Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
