Ms. Janet Thornton Obituary

Janet Faye Thornton was born September 26,1958, to the union of Thomas Kyle Thornton and Eleanor Jacquelyn          (Ford) Thornton, in Carrolton, Missouri.  She was the 4th child of 6 children.  Faye was proceeded in death by her father, mother, daughter and three brothers.

Faye accepted Christ at an early age, she was baptized at and a lifelong member of Bowers Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  She graduated Southeast High School in 1977.

Faye was a mother to a beautiful Daughter named Brandi Thornton who proceeded her in death, but not by leaving a precious child at the age of 8 for this remarkable woman of God who vowed to raise and give her the motherly love and care she so deserved.

Faye was a very amazing, beautiful and outgoing soul, whom would give you her very last.  Faye loved and touched all the lives around her and she too was loved by all. Faye’s personality filled the room with grace.  Faye worked for 25 years at Smurfit Stone Bag Plant until she retired.

Janet Faye Thornton left this earthly realm on January 25th, 2023, after a long battle with COPD & Emphysema. She was blessed to live 64 years and we were more blessed to have known her.

It would be wrong to say that Faye lost her battle  because she never stopped fighting.  Faye stayed strong till the end. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Faye. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight, she just went on to meet her Heavenly Father.

Faye is survived by, her son DeWayne Thornton, adopted granddaughter/daughter De’Aujanea Thornton, sisters Frances Carpenter, Kimberly Lee, adopted sister Bernice Kearse, and sister in-law Arlene Bandy, 6 grandsons, 2 great granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Thank You - The Family of Janet Faye Thornton truly appreciates the many expressions of love and kindness we have experienced during this difficult time of loss.  We are eternally grateful for your compassion, concerns and prayers. Those of you that called, sent cards, ran errands, gave input and even listened.  Please continue to pray for our family and we pray that God continually Bless each of you.
