Ms. Jerusha Dillard Obituary

Jerusha Marie Cooper Dillard passed away September 3, 2022, was born January 14, 1929, in Webster Parish, Louisiana. She was tenth and youngest child born to Reverend Felix Cooper and Clairsie Dozier Cooper. 

Jerusha attended elementary school in Clairborne Parrish, middle school in Bossier City, Louisiana and she graduated from Webster High School in the 11th grade.

Jerusha met the love her life, Willie (Killer) Dillard while attending Webster High School. He attended Tuskegee Institute. They were married 54 1/2 years. From this union three children were born, Linda Dianne Dillard Scott, Willa Jewel Dillard Washington and Willie D. Dillard. Jerusha was preceded in death by her husband and children.

The Dillard family moved to Kansas City in 1950. 

Jerusha came to the Lord at an early age. She was a member at Bowers Memorial CME Church for many years before changing her membership to Calvary Temple Assembly of God where she remained a faithful member.

Jerusha was an amazing seamstress. She was known for making the most beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Jerusha was featured on local television twice and in the Kansas City Star for her talent.

Jerusha enjoyed staying home raising her children, thrifting, making her famous desserts and burning up the phone lines.

Jerusha leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren, Trishon Washington, Erica Williams (Jason A.), Robin Apana (Kennedy) and Darryl K. Washington; five great-grandchildren, Baylor, Mahogany, Kingsley, Jeremiah and Jason S.; one great-great-grandchild, Meliodas; a faithful son in-law, Darryl D. Washington (Pennie) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 8,2022, 11am at Watkins Heritage Chapel.  Visit 10-11am at the chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
