Ms. Juanella Bradley Obituary

Juanella Mae Lloyd Bradley was born on October 1, 1929 in Quindaro, Kansas to loving parents Frances Powell Lloyd and John E. Lloyd who both preceded her in death.  She was born the second child in a family of eight other siblings.  Her siblings whom have gone on to prepare a place for her are:  Frances Lloyd Holmes (James), Ida Lloyd Johnson (Taro), Henry Lloyd (Cora), Franklin Lloyd (Jean), Dorothy Lloyd Hanson.  Her siblings left to cherish her memory are:  Zelma Lloyd Frank (Jim), Gloria Lloyd Bagby, and James Lloyd (Shirley).

She was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri public schools and always enjoyed school finishing at Lincoln High School.  While attending Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO she met and married Cortez J. Bradley in April 1950.  She ultimately received her bachelor’s degree from Avila College in Elementary Education.  She received a Master of Science degree from KU in Counseling and Guidance and an Education Specialist degree from UMKC in Counseling and Guidance.

She worked in the Kansas City, Missouri School District for over 30 wonderful years.  She began as a kindergarten teacher at D. A. Holmes Elementary and truly loved her little ones.  When she ended her career over 30 years later she was the coordinator of the school psychological examiners.

Juanella Bradley was a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and recently celebrated her “Pearl” status as being a member for sixty-five years or more.  She was an avid supporter of Lincoln University of Missouri with frequent donations.  Juanella and husband, Cortez donated enough money to Lincoln University to have a room named in their honor.

Juanella holds a diploma from Unity School for Religious Studies, was a member of Phi Delta Kappa professional fraternity, a member of the Missouri Association of School Psychologists, member of Pi Lambda Theta National Honor and Professional Association in Education, member of the National Association of School Psychologists, and was a volunteer for different organizations including CASA and transcribing text into Braille for the blind/visually impaired.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  Husband of 71 years, Cortez; Daughters – Teresina Bradley of Lee’s Summit, MO, Stacia Bradley Brown (Archie) of Kansas City, MO; Son – Cortez J Bradley, II (Stephanie) of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren (fondly called her Sugar Lumps) – Brandi Bradley of Grandview, MO, Camille Williams (Melvin) of Kansas City, MO, Bradley Brown (Debby) of Kansas City, MO.  She also leaves her precious gems, great grandchildren – Alyssa, Ayden, Mason and Jordan.  Sadly missed but we’ll see you again.
