Ms. Judith Parks Obituary

Ms. Judith Elizabeth Parks, 81, fell asleep in death on October 13, 2021.

Judith Elizabeth Parks affectionately known as “Judy” or “Nanny” was born in Kansas City, on Missouri February 5th 1940 to Edward and Geraldine Neely. Judith died October 13th 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Franklin Eugene Parks, her parents, her sister Deloris Williams, and a brother-in-law Merrill Whitelaw. Judith was born and raised in Kansas City. She was educated at Windell Philips, RT Coles Elementary School, and graduated from Lincoln High School.

After high school she was employed as a temporary employee for Kelly Girls; as a cashier at Macys in the Landing Mall; she also worked for Hallmark cards as a card writer and Internal Revenue Service as a clerk and tax examiner. She retired from Internal Revenue Service to become the primary caregiver for her husband when he became ill.  In her free time, she enjoyed listening to the radio and entering contest. She won 2 big contest one being a trip to Puerto Rico and the other – a grocery store shopping spree. She also loved going to the movie theater - AMC at Ward Parkway and catching up with friends via telephone calls. In recent years her face really lit up when she was able to video call her great-grandchildren.

Judith & Franklin raised two children, Christopher and Jennifer Parks. Judith was one of Jehovah Witnesses, who came to learn about and love Jehovah from her mother, who taught her from a youth. In 1950, Judy, her mother (Geraldine) and Sister (Edra) dedicated their lives in service to Jehovah God in Independence and she kept that faith, until death. Judy regularly traveled on bus tours to international conventions to places such as Canada and Jacksonville Fl. She shared her faith with all who would listen. She continued to share that faith until her death.

Judith wanted to share what she learned about Jehovah and his purpose for mankind. She confidently looked forward to living on Earth in Paradise as the bible promises and placed her care and concerns in Jehovah’s loving hands. Though she is now sleeping, she knows her God Jehovah will remember her. She awaits the time when his son Jesus Christ will awaken her from the memorial tomb. (John 5:20) Judith attended several congregations in the past 71 years: The West Unit, Brush Creek, Midtown, Central South, Blue Hills and Linwood. She was known and loved by many.

She is survived by: daughter - Jennifer Parks of Virginia, son - Christopher Parks (Rhonda), honorary son - Stevie Parks, grandchildren - Ashlee Green (Omar), Alexander Parks (Porcia), great grandchildren - Peyton and Levi, two sisters - Edra Whitelaw (Merrill - deceased), Marion Wallace (Major), niece - Julie Whitelaw, nephews - Mark Whitelaw, Micheal Whitelaw (Jill), Scott Whitelaw (Senita) all of Kansas City and a host of friends.
