Ms. Linda Ransom

Linda M. Jones was born in Beaumont, Texas on December 30, 1927, to parents, Samuel R. and Hattie Strickland Jones. Linda had two older sisters, Sidonia and Elizabeth, and a brother, Samuel R. Jones Jr., who all preceded her in death. 

Linda was educated in the Kansas City Public School system and attended Attucks, R. T. Coles Junior High School, and Lincoln Senior High School, where she graduated in 1944.  In 1963, she returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC).

She married Herman Lee Ransom Sr. on October 10, 1953, in Kansas City. Together they had 4 children, two of which survived. They were married 48 years until his death in July of 2002. 

Linda held numerous positions throughout her working career including, and she retired from the Social Security Administration under the Department of Health and Human Services after thirty-one years.  After retirement she sold real estate.

 Linda leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Vanita Massey (Kim) of Overland Park, KS, and Herman L. Ransom, III of Los Angeles, CA. Three grandchildren, Quentin R. Massey (Keyah) of Blue Springs, MO, Brian D. Massey of Denver, CO, and Jennifer L. Massey, of Fort Worth, TX. One great grandson, Quentin R. Massey Jr., as well as a host of family and friends. 

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 7, 2023, 2:30pm at Forest Hill Cemetery. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Video link Home |  Linda Ransom (masseyfamily0924.wixsite.com)
