Ms. Ruby Pratt Obituary

Ruby Lee Pratt (Plukie) was born in Cotton Valley, Louisiana to Eddie and Bell Williams on July 12, 1932.  

Ruby attended Webster High School and Spring Hill High School in Louisiana.  She furthered her education at Grambling college before moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1954.  

Ruby worked at Author Bryant’s Bar B Que while attending nursing school at General Hospital, the #2 nursing school in Kansas City.  She completed nursing school in 1957 and worked in several hospitals in and around the greater Kansas City metro area before retiring from Western Missouri Mental Health Hospital. 

Ruby served the Lord at Jamison Memorial Temple, where she taught Sunday school and was a devout member.  She will be remembered for her generosity, her love for family, friends, and her passion for local charities.  She took pride in “being about her business”. 

Ruby peacefully went home on January 28, 2024.  She’s preceded in death by her Husband, Fred James Pratt, Dwayne Anthony Hogan (son), Frederick Pratt (stepson), Ronald Pratt (stepson), Cornelius “Buddy” Williams (brother), Ruthie Hall (sister), and Cleaver Hall (in-law). 

Ruby leaves loving family that will cherish her memory, her son, Tolbert Edward Pratt (Joda), stepson Gregory Pratt (Bernadette), stepdaughters Beverly Pratt and Treby “Penny” Blacksheare, two loving grandchildren, Tranele Pratt and Brandon Pratt, and one great-grandchild, Brandon “Bino” Pratt.  She will be sorely missed by her nieces Getta Hall and Kay Chever and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, 11am at Jamison Temple CME Church 3115 E. Linwood Blvd KCMO 64128. A visitation will be from 9am -11am at the church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
