Ms. Shirley Maxwell Obituary

Shirley Maxwell was born on August 30,1936, in Kansas City Missouri, to Hose Maxwell and Dorothy Mae Maxwell. She was preceded in death by both her parents, siblings Kamal Maji, and Jean Maxwell, and son Thomas Lacey.

Shirley received her education from Western Baptist Seminary. Shirley was a monarch in the community. She spent years devoting her life to Christianity and feeding the homeless every weekend at Solomons porch church, where she was a member for years. She was last employed as a dietitian until retirement. After retirement she worked in the community as a caretaker. Shirley enjoyed caring for animals. The neighborhood feral cats always had a place of refuge when she was around. She would often open her home up others. If she met a person in need she would not hesitate to give. Shirley was truly a light to everyone around her, she was rich in spirit. She would never complain about any circumstance. She believed in the true power of Christ and knew she could accomplish anything with his help.

She departed this life on February 5, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospice House.
