Tracy Olivia Hawkins was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 28, 1959, to Clement Eugene Lee Young and Norma Arzelia Young. Tracy was the only child born into this union. She attended Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO and also attended Penn Valley Community College.
Tracy worked for NASA in Houston, TX before relocating back home to Kansas City, MO in 1989. She then began working at the Kansas City Missouri Police Department in 1989. Her assignments included Records Division Office, Records Services Division, Research and Technology Division, Benefits Section, Operation Support Division, Special Operations Division Office, Metro Patrol Division and Central Patrol Division where she was assigned until her retirement on January 28, 2015.
Tracy was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan; she loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. For several years, Tracy devoted her time as the primary care giver to her mother and provided unconditional support and love.
Tracy was a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City until she began attending Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ in Blue Springs, MO.
Tracy passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Ignite Medical Resorts Carondelet. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father.
Tracy leaves behind her children – Jason Hawkins (Chareka), Lee’s Summit, MO and James Hawkins, Raytown, MO. Grandchildren, JaNiya Hawkins and James Hawkins, both of Michigan City, MS; Mason Hawkins, Lee’s Summit, MO; Jackson Hawkins, Kansas City, MO and Braxton Hawkins, Lee’s Summit, MO; a sister, Marie “Skip” Overbey, Saint Louis, MO; four nieces, one nephew, a host of cousins, and special friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, 11 am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. visitation 10 am. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Condolences may be shared on our website.
