Ms. Yolanda "Yo-Yo' Murrell

Yolanda Murrell (Yo-Yo McClendon) was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, January 25, 2023.

Yolanda, born to Reverend William and Lillian McClendon on April 25, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois.  With family Yolanda later migrated to Missouri where she spent most of her life.  Yolanda attended and graduated from Blue Springs High School.  Yolanda went on to major in Finance at Missouri State University.  After college Yolanda gained employment with Bank Midwest for over 15 years where she held various positions and titles.  Yolanda later went into nursing and then retired to spend her later years with her husband Steven, and family.   

Yolanda enjoyed music and played multiple instruments, yet she found the love of the piano by the age of five.  Yolanda was instrumental in the Ministry of Music where she served under the pastorship of her father, Rev McClendon.  Yolanda was raised by parents who loved, served, and lived Christ and this was exemplified in the life she lived for she was a soft authentic woman who loved God and His people.  Yolanda was a pleasant soul; her presence will be greatly missed.     

Yolanda’s father Rev William McClendon preceded her in death.  Yolanda leaves behind a loving family that includes her husband; Steven Murrell of Blue Springs, Missouri, her beautiful mother; Mrs. Lillian McClendon of Blue Springs, Missouri, Oldest son; Joshua McClendon (Shauntavia) of Texas, formerly married to Eric Mitchell of this union was born her baby boy Brandan Mitchell of Overland Park, Kansas, Jasteva Murrell of Kansas City, Missouri, Markeese Murrell (Shaniece) of Kansas City, Missouri, Nikki Murrell of Kansas City, Missouri, five grandchildren; Jaaliyah McClendon, Sariyah McClendon, Ja’Nice Murrell, Jade Murrell, Jay’Cion Williams, God Brother; Jessie Brack(Alicia) of Chicago Illinois, God sister; Kershanthia Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, 2 pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel visitation 1 pm. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
