Shirley Ann Renaud (nee Allen) was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 2, 1929 and passed away on January 9, 2021.

Shirley was a loving mother to five, friend to hundreds and teacher to thousands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andre G. Renaud and her parents, Helen Webb Allen and James V. Allen.  She is survived by her daughter, Michaela Schulze (Paul) of Independence, MO; daughter Monique Holmes (David) of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Andre Renaud (Theresa Schmidt) of West Des Moines, IA; son, Erik Renaud of Leawood, KS; and daughter, Nicole Swift (Stephen) of Buffalo, NY. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great- granddaughter.

Shirley grew up in Kansas City, attended Lincoln High School, graduated at age 14 and attended Howard University in Washington DC. She also attended The College of St. Teresa (later known as Avila University).

She began teaching at St. Peter's Catholic School in 1965 where she taught middle schoolers for 19 years. In 1984, she began teaching at St. Teresa's Academy. Teaching was her passion and brought her great joy.

When Andre died in 1973, they had been married for 24 years. Although her beloved husband was gone, she had the determination to carry on their hopes and goals for their children.

In 2015, her children organized a Celebration of Life event so that she could hear what she truly meant to family, friends, and former students. She loved it. Shirley touched the lives of so many through her example and beyond.

In retirement, she followed lifelong interests including writing, organizing and participating in book clubs and acting in plays.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
