Stanley Palmer Obituary

STANLEY ROY  PALMER

Stanley Roy Palmer, 70, was born September 23, 1948 to the late Kenneth Palmer and Ina Bell Bailey Solomon. He was born in the country part of Jamaica where he lived with various family members Chiefly aunt Lily so that his mother could find a meaningful life in the city.  He later joined his mother in Kingston Jamaica. He attended All Saints Primary School then went to Excelsior High School after obtaining a special merited scholarship. Stanley acquired the name “Scientist” because of his ardent love for reading and the knowledge he gained from reading all types of books and newspaper articles. He was a talented songwriter, and this gave him the opportunity to travel to the United States with a famous group who used his songs without giving him credit. This resulted in him leaving the group and his settling in Kansas City.

Stanley became family to a group of brothers including the members of the West Indian Social Club in Kansas City Missouri and their families. They were a loving and caring crew.  Stanley attended the University of Missouri and finished his bachelor’s degree in Sociology in two years. Usually, this type of degree takes 3 to 4 years to complete. Stanley is a matter of fact person who would tell you the truth and hold no grudge. He would help any and everyone who needed help even after scolding you. His famous saying was, “What wrong with you? Are you an idiot?”  Stanley worked for the company named Z- Trip; formally known as yellow cab, for over Twenty years.  Also, he had a love for children, so the best part of his job was picking up children after school even when he wasn’t feeling well. He would say, “I have to pick-up those children from school.”

Stanley is proceeded in death by his mother Evangelist Solomon; dad Kenneth Palmer who was a licensed engineer; brother Gladstone who was a licensed architect, Lascelle, a.k.a. Salla who was a Police Constable and Elsa Solomon who was an ardent business entrepreneur.

He is sadly missed by his sisters: Elaine a registered nurse, Juliet a teaching professor, Audrey a registered nurse, Sandra,  a real estate and business expert and Deborah a prophetess and counselor; brothers: Philbert , head of the economic department  of the National Housing Trust Jamaica West Indies , Minister Marcelle, Daulton best lawn landscaping , Norman professional painter and  Barry-Master Chef and Rapper. He is also survived by his aunt Joyce, grand aunt Amanda, and a list of cousins. Although Stanley had no children of his own, he was a mentor, father and protector, for his many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him. Rest in peace Stanley Roy Palmer “Scientist,” you are FREE from the cares, turmoil and pain of this world. We love you, but God loves you best.
